Remote entanglement by environment control in optical cavity arrays

In this project we study the coupling between a small quantum system, such as a single electromagnetic field mode or a trapped single ion, and a tailored environment towards several objectives within the framework of cascaded optical cavities. The physics of these systems is intimately linked to the physics of open quantum systems with non-Markovian properties.
